At Forty/8, we endeavour to make the process of buying an apartment as simple as possible, especially those sold off plan. One way we plan to do this is by taking advantage of emerging digital and social media tools to better communicate to our potential buyers.

Recently, we started to use Virtual Reality (VR)

When you think Virtual Reality, your mind will most likely go to the gaming industry or sci-fi blockbusters, but it is an increasingly useful tool for communicating and selling to consumers.

The off plan dilemma

For property buyers, off plan purchases can make good investments and allow you to guarantee a fixed price, enabling maximum yield where a city’s economy, house prices, and population is on the rise.

However, it can be hard to grasp the look and feel of apartment features and common spaces in a new build scheme when presented with CGIs, sales brochures and small development models, which can deter many investors from buying off plan.

Seeing is believing

Virtual Reality experiences, like the one we have implemented for The Hallmark in Manchester, ensure that prospective buyers can immerse themselves into the features of the development and its apartments before the first brick is laid.

Investors of The Hallmark apartments can have a virtual walk through of their properties before purchasing, giving them the opportunity to ask specific questions that may not have occurred to them based on brochures and CGIs alone. The VR experience also helps buy-to-let investors to visualise whether the development is right for their property portfolio and whether their prospective tenants will be attracted to it.

Put simply, VR allows investors and their business partners to make confident, well-informed decisions about the property they’re purchasing long before the off plan development is complete, removing the risk historically perceived with buying off plan.

We look forward to introducing this technology to more of our prospective buyers across our developments in the UK.
